Candriam launches the Global Metaverse Fund – Cash.

Candriam has launched the Candriam Equities L Meta Globe Fund (“Meta Globe Fund”). The fund invests in companies involved in the development and improvement of the Metaverse.

Globally active multi-specialist asset manager Candriam complements its growing thematic equity investing platform, on which more than US$9 billion is managed across 13 funds. The objective is to use the growth potential of long-term structural megatrends such as health, environment, technology and demography. The Meta Globe Fund is classified under Article 8 of the EU Disclosure Regulation.

While the Metaverse is still in its infancy, Candriam believes it offers investors significant and compelling long-term investment opportunities. Market estimates put the Metaverse economy at over $5 trillion[2]. Some signals indicate what the future could look like: by 2024[3] Virtual and Augmented Reality Market Expected to Reach $73 Billion, While NFT and Digital Certificate of Authenticity Market to Grow by 2025[4] Expected turnover of 80 billion US dollars.

A team with 40 years of combined investment experience actively manages the fund: Johan Van Der Biest, Deputy Head of Global Thematic Equities, Felix Demaeght, CFA, Fund Manager, and Nataniel Wejchert, Tech Equity Analyst, under the leadership of Rudi Van den Eynde, Director of Global Thematic Equities, with 34 years of investment experience. These experts are supported by Candriam’s cutting-edge ESG team of 21 ESG analysts.

The Candriam Equities L Meta Globe Fund, a sub-fund of the SICAV Candriam Equities L, is domiciled in Luxembourg and authorized for distribution in Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Spain.

“In an expanding digital world, it is becoming increasingly important to make every digital interaction more immersive and engaging. The Metaverse is one of the most exciting developments in technology,” said Johan Van Der Biest, Deputy Head of Global Thematic Equities at Candriam. “Although it is still in its infancy, it is already clear that the development of the Metaverse will have an impact on the entire technology sector. It could fundamentally change and perhaps revolutionize the fields of education, health, communication and entertainment. The potential and opportunities are huge, so we want to make the Metaverse more accessible to our customers. Given the success of our current thematic equity offering, in particular our robotics and innovative technologies fund, we believe our Meta Globe fund is a natural complement and another step forward in advancing our approach.

The fund is actively managed. The investment approach is based on a benchmark index, the MSCI ACWI (Net Return).
